Global Thought International:
Candidate Advertisement Assignment

Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion

Introduction:
Suppose you work for an advertising company.  What sort of things will you have to produce, and in what way would you have to do it?  You may not notice, but nearly all advertisements out there use some form of persuasion in order to get the viewers to do, buy, or feel what they want.  What about political advertisements (or, for the republicans)?  They are undoubtedly persuasive, and not only that, they are directed to various aspects of the public in order to reach as many people in a single advertisement as possible.  Do you ever wonder what  kind of thought goes in to those?  Or, even better, have you ever watched an advertisement and thought to yourself, "well I could do better than that, it doesn't mean anything to me at all!"  Now is your chance to prove it...

Task:
You work for Global Thought, an internationally recognized advertisement company. Due to the high quality of your past work, you have been selected to become part of a special team that will be working with this year's Presidential candidates. The candidates have requested a team from the company to create advertisements promoting their view of the 'hot topics' in the upcoming debate. You are going to pick a topic, explore each side, and decide which candidate you are going work for. From there, you will create a public advertisement to be broadcast on either the radio or TV that will communicate to various aspects of the public viewers.

Evaluation:

The quality of your advertisement will be determined by this criteria by the CEO and by the public.

An example of a moderately low quality radio advertisement can be found here.
An example of an impressive video advertisement can be found here.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN VIDEOS AND AUDIOS WILL NECESSARILY BE GOOD OR BAD, RESPECTIVELY.

Conclusion:
Now that you have seen what it’s like to have to create a political advertisement, what do you think of it?  Is it as easy as you thought to reach so many different generations and personalities with a single commercial?  Maybe you failed to reach a certain group.  What do you do now?  With the feedback you are going to receive, you will have to write a personalized persuasive letter to the group that you failed to reach the most.
